BIOGRAPHY: LYNDA ROTH

[Photo of Lynda] Lynda Roth is the Founder and President of the Coalition of Silicone Survivors, a Colorado based non-profit, tax-exempt group with international ties. This group has been in operation for over 14 years and has over 10000 members. The Coalition of Silicone Survivors communicates with most other breast implant survivor groups worldwide Prior to starting this group, Lynda was a practicing Social Worker with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Colorado University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Denver University. Because of the significant health problems she had from her implant after reconstruction for breast cancer in 1990, Lynda began to publicize the fact that there were problems with these devices. This led to the formation of the group in 1991.

Lynda testified before the FDA Hearings on Silicone implants in November of 1994 and in 2003, lobbied senators in Washington, DC to prevent passage of SB-640 (US) in 1992 (a bill to limit punitive damages and liability in defective products cases), has attended many of the Multi-District Hearings all over the country and addressed the Fairness Hearings (Judge Pointer) on the MDL-926 (class action for breast implant recipients) on August 18th, 1994, testified before the FDA Hearings on Saline Implants June 2nd, 1994, and has travelled to over 40 states and to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Europe to help women answer questions about breast implants.

She has sponsored and helped organize a number of national and International Breast Implant conferences. She sponsored a national conference on breast implants in September of 1993. Lynda traveled around the country and to other parts of the world in an effort to unite the women and help support groups to educate women. Education is just one focus of the Coalition of Silicone Survivors. Support and networking with other women is another important focus.

Lynda believes that our strength lies in our ability to communicate with each other and to share information. With this information, we can empower ourselves and each other to get the proper medical care and support we need to regain our health and our lives. She is one of the foremost advocates for women with breast implants in the world. Her knowledge of the problems women suffer from breast implants is immense.

Peace
